Hey all, hope you had lots of fun dressing up, eating sweets and carving pumpkins. I know I did.

I carved a large pumpkin the other day. After putting a lot of effort into that wrinkled face I decided, slicing up one pumpkin is not enough for me.

So after some thought I decided to make soup out of one. I'd never made soup before but I diced up a third of a small pumpkin, stuck in some stock, onion, garlic, and pearl barley. Once it was all cooked I threw in a pot of cream, cinnamon and maple syrup.

It was beautiful. I even managed to get my brother eating some (after I convinced him it was just vegetable soup) and he seemed to like it. I still have a load of pumpkin left. Maybe a pie is forecast...

Work was unusual today as we were allowed to dress up. So, being a slightly competitive sort, I made my best effort in being a vampire. Complete with irritating stick on fangs. They made my speech slurred and kept sliding about.

I plan on shopping for some thick cosy jumpers soon. My autumn instincts are kicking in and they call for cosy jumpers.
I love this time of year.
