Hades and Persephone

I'm hugely into Greek mythology and have a soft spot for this pair, Hades and Persephone. I never really liked the idea of theirs being a story of kipnap and rape, and to me just sounded like misrepresentation of a god who was feared, simply because of his dominion the Underworld. He was actually a very fair and patient god, if a massive recluse. So yes he was the lord of the dead, but he had a palace on the lake of forgetfulness, and was closely situated to the Elysium Fields. He was also the god of wealth.
While painting this I discovered that one of the plants sacred to him was cypress so chose to include that, rather than the infamour pomegranate.
